Hi Dora,
I hope you’re doing well.
My name is Drew and I am the Vice-Chairperson of the Fifty Cosburn Tenants’ Association. Our Chairperson, Anna, is on a temporary leave while she tends to a family emergency.
First, I would like to acknowledge and thank the City of Toronto’s emergency services for their prompt response to the two-alarm fire on the 4th floor yesterday.
In April, we requested that the emergency evacuation plan be posted on each floor and, while you initially agreed to do so, we still haven’t seen any progress on this matter.
As I’m sure you are aware, this is the second fire to occur on the property within the past six months which (a) is extremely concerning to our membership due to risk of serious injury or loss of life, (b) will likely result in higher insurance premiums for all of the tenants who live here, and (c) negatively impacts the brand and reputation of M&R Holdings.
Yesterday’s incident reinforces the importance of having the emergency evacuation plan posted on each floor and we are once again requesting that you make this an urgent priority. We also recommend that an advertising campaign be initiated to remind tenants about fire safety best practices.
Last but not least, we are also requesting that you share copies of all emergency contingency plans on file, including fire or power outage, with us to review and provide feedback.
As always, it is our goal to help make Fifty Cosburn an even better place to live and we are always available and looking for new ways to support you.
Sincerely,
Drew Erickson
Vice-Chairperson
Fifty Cosburn Tenants’ Association
