In my conversations with constituents throughout the riding, there is general agreement the best thing for tenants would be real rent control. Rent control that would have the province limit annual increases to all apartment units no matter when it was built, or if a tenant moves out.
I'll be at your building soon and would like to hear from you about any loss of service you have experienced in your building, or any information about Above Guideline rent increases you have had or heard about in the past or currently. Please bring any documents.
In some cases, I believe we can help to secure rent reductions for tenants with your assistance.
